Corporate Power Threatens the Republic

One of Milton Friedman's greatest fear, was that corporations and government would become one in the same. There is protectionism already baked in the cake, and its in the 20 volumes of the US tax code and State laws and licensing boards including thousands of regulations (State and Federal). They collectively prevent or reduce the availability of various services to keep the cost for those services at a high level by limiting competitors (or making it too expensive for competitors to enter the market).

Insurance companies promoted Obamacare, knowing full well Americans would be forced (by the Government) to pay high premiums for their products exclusively. Government approved plans made it infeasible for all competitors to enter the healthcare market. State boundaries made it impossible for consumers in various States to buy something less expensive in another State. At the same time, the "insured" would not be able to easily use these products due to high deductibles. And that's not all, the taxpayer will subsidize any loses they incur. Who wouldn't want a deal like that?

Corporations donate to elected officials to keep those barriers in place, or to legislate additional obstacles. The collusion of Google and Facebook with the Democrat Party is the biggest threat to the Republic in the history of the United States in my opinion. The ability to build search engines to wedge out sites for which they disagree, or collect information on individual subscribers for political purposes is frightening. Social media has become the modern way to assert mob rule through the power of the tweet.

What Happened to Good Paying Jobs?

The US, after WWII, became a manufacturing giant. Good jobs, good pay, good benefits. Why? The USA was untouched by the war, where all industrial competitors in Europe and the Pacific lay in ruins. The US, during the 40s, 50s, and 60s, was the only country which had standing factories that could meet the demands of the world.

As we moved passed the1960's into the 1970's and beyond, something happened. Europe and Japan rebuilt their industrial base destroyed by the war. Global competition began to eat away at the US manufacturing monopoly that once supported all of the "good" union wages and benefits. US car manufacturers, who previously could mass produce inferior products and sell them all.. could no longer do so. Japan started to capture huge market share of the car industry, as increased world manufacturing put high demand on oil that in turn increased gas prices. This of course created high demand for reliable cars that used less gas. The US car industry didn't see it coming, but the Japanese did and exploited it.

Creating good paying jobs is more than just getting an education. Its developing a workforce that can build, sell, and market things people want to buy. Government cannot anticipate this, and only a free market unleashed by low tax and regulatory environments creates the incentives for millions of minds to test, develop, and market millions of products and services. Some products will win big, others will lose. However, Government intervention in this process is what holds us back. Even colleges today are struggling with the problem of training students to do jobs that don't exist yet.....and don't get me started on degrees in ethnic studies and such.

I get so frustrated by the idea there is some magic formula to create good paying jobs. However, there are three things that will work, 1. free markets, 2. free markets, and 3. free markets....and please keep Government bureaucrats who know nothing of the real world out of the job creation business. If we don't, we'll all be starving while well paid and fed Government bureaucrats continue to make promises that they're only here to help us

Obama is a Socialist

Thomas Peterffy grew up in Socialist Hungary, immigrated to the US and became a successful broker. He knows first hand that Socialism robs individuals of their economic liberty and initiative to work and achieve.

When the Economy Finally Collapses

How surprised public unions will be, along with federal and military retirees when there is no money to pay their pensions. How so very surprised will Social Security and Medicare recipients be when there is no money to issue checks, or reimburse medical expenses. All could have been fixed, with bold and quick action. Everyone willing to make some sacrifices for the greater good. But it won't happen, because nearly 50% of the country is drawing a Government benefit of some kind. They'll ignor the fact the horse they're riding is lathered and ready to collapse, and they'll dig the spurs deeper, and raise the whip higher. How surprised the Soviets were as well.....when the horse they rode so long and so hard finally fell beneath them.

Stop Using "Class Warfare".

Referring to "Class" anything is a Marxist term, and Republicans shouldn't repeat it.

What Obama is doing is pitting American against American, and failing to unite the country to rebuild the economy. We need to lower and broaden the tax system, whether its the fair tax, or flat tax, or some combination inbetween.

Republicans need to drop the "class warfare" phrase-ology like a plague. We do not, and I repeat we DO NOT have a class system in the United States. Wise up, candidates and GOP. Stop using Marxist rhetoric, or it will blow up in your face. Your income level does NOT put you into a CLASS

The Gold Standard

I'm not an expert on currency. I do know that when we were on the gold standard, an American citizen couldn't legally own gold bullion. In 1933 Franklin D. Roosevelt made it illegal for any person in the United States to own hoards of gold. The ban was not lifted until legislation was signed in 1974 by President Gerald Ford. There likely isn't enough gold to run our economy, so what would our country do if there wasn't a sufficient supply of gold backed currency to run multi billion dollar companies and pay salaries of millions of employees?

I've always wondered what makes gold valuable in the first place. You can't eat it, plant it, or shoot it (well, you could mold it into bullets). In a financial collapse, I would rather own agricultural land, non-modified seed, a plow, a good mule, firearms, and plenty of ammo. So, whats so great about gold? Pieces of cardboard (called baseball cards) are sometimes more valuable. Maybe we should turn to baseball cards to back our currency?

I also find it amazing that sellers of gold tell us that gold may double in value, yet are willing to sell me their valuable gold for my worthless paper currency. I just don't get that....it doesn't compute. If the brokers thought what they were advertising were true, why wouldn't they hang on to their gold and double their fortunes? I don't know folks, you tell me.

Democrats at Their Best...The Gaffe-O-Matic Strikes Again

Obama isn't the only one getting thin skinned. Later, he commented that their administration inherited one "hell of a mess". Again, more Bush bashing. I don't think these clowns realize they were hired to fix the mess, not make it worse. The Obama and Biden administration has doubled the Bush deficits in less than two years. Remember in November.

On the OUTSIDE Looking In

The Gulf Stream jets, Limos, and whores lined up again to pick up the celebrities and dignitaries for the big Climate Change summit in Copenhagen. Caviar wedges and the finest of wine were flowing in generous quantities. You were not invited, but you’ll pick up the check. No expense or carbons were spared to transport, feed, and house these delegates in ‘abject’ luxury. Their concern, and objective, of course is to determine how the rest of us should live. This has never been about “their” hypocritical lifestyle, but how we…the unwashed masses…abuse the planet. In no case to they intend to live by example, but to place restrictions that will ultimately impact jobs and the larger economy. Like our US Congress, they care little about what we want. This is why our elected Representatives charge ahead with Cap and Trade and this abortion of a Health Care bill.
If you are afraid of the excesses and power of a central Federal Government, be very afraid now. President Hussein intends to put the United States under the governance of world bodies that will dictate how the US uses its own resources. You see, Liberals, and especially our President doesn’t believe America is exceptional. They believe we haven’t been a force for good. These are the people you folks put in charge.

Is this the people we’ve now become?

I hope not, because if that’s true the light illuminating the shining city on the hill just went out.

This climate change game is to enrich the ALGOREs and GEs who are counting on benefiting from Cap and Trade and other countries who think America has become too powerful...too exceptional. We must be stopped, and Barack Hussein Obama intends to do it. He said to his allies, "we are who we've been waiting for".

Why the TEA Party OUTRAGE?- Take a Look at this Federal Deficit Chart Baby!!!

Need I say more. The Bush years on this chart (GRAY) INCLUDE Iraq and Afghanistan spending. The RED are the the OBAMA deficits. Hussein has tripled the deficit projections this year, and will double it in outgoing years. This isn't counting the Health Care debacle the Obamanator is foisting on us. Much more red would have to be added to illustrate that...

We are in big trouble if we don't make some changes in Congress in 2010 folks. Bush's spending was bad enough, but compared to Obama, Bush looks like a genius. Massive inflation is on the way. Inflation is the most insidious tax increase of all, when our dollar will have the purchasing power of the Mexican peso. Add to this mess the potential costs of the Cap and Trade (Crap and Tax) bill, which will make energy, manufacturing, and everything we buy in America cost more.

Wake up, America, for God's sake, wake up!!!

PEEP, PEEP, PEEP

Liberalism and government growth cannot produce wealth. As Margaret Thatcher stated, the problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people’s money. Case in point is California, the ‘IOU’ State. They have already run out of ‘other peoples’ money. As this State considers its future, it doesn’t look rosy.

Unfortunately, liberals forget one key ingredient that makes Government programs possible. Someone, in the food chain has to deliver the goods, so non-productive parasites can feed. If no one finds it worth the effort to work, no one will. The Soviets used to joke, “They pretend to pay us, and we pretend to work”. Production and productivity under socialism collapses, and the nation state of birdies peeping for their government provided worm are no longer fed. In California, the mommy birds are leaving the nest....avoiding a very hostile business climate.

Good luck Californians, in that you may end up digging for your own worms. The Governator will more than likely wing his way to Washington.... looking for big, fat, green, worms to feed all the Collyfornia peepers (if they can find anything left). Its going to be a cold winter.

Yes We Can, and With Audacity.

I am convinced that we conservatives, a band of brothers, need to STOP buying union made cars with government warranties.

If the 58 million sane people left in this country, who didn't vote for the Messiah would just simply stop buying all the Government subsidized crap now running down DNC sponsored assembly lines we could really make a difference. Yes we can!!!

No more GM, Chrysler made pieces of Government made junk. No sirree. Also, don't buy the Progressive Insurance to replace the Government produced piece of shit after we wreck it. What do you think guys?

If we stop buying GM, Chrysler, and GE products (don't forget them), we'll also stop funding the DNC.

The Government is not Supposed to Run the Economy

I think some folks need to take a civics course in American government. The Government does not control the economy. The government is supposed to regulate commerce, not create it. How in the world can any American citizen believe, under the American system of Government, that Government should create jobs or wealth?

In 1918, the Bolsheviks took over the Russian monarchy and created a so-called workers paradise. In the Soviet Union, the Government did run the economy. The Soviet Government decided how resources were spent, determined what crops would be planted, what products would be manufactured, and how many workers would be needed to produce those goods and services, what those products should cost, and what the workers should be paid to produce them. The Soviet Government also decided where you lived, where you worked, and what level of education you needed to do those jobs, and determined what rationed benefits you should have. It was a dreary economic system, that provided few choices, and generated none of prosperity that we in the West enjoy (or take for granted today). That system collapsed under its own weight, and the GNP (amount of production) could not match the outlay of Government spending. That’s where this country is heading if we don’t stop our current government from the reckless spending they’re currently engaged under this new budget.

If the public wants jobs and a better economy, the voting booth is not the place to get them…unless you’re talking about getting Government out of the markets so the prosperity that free enterprise creates can do its thing. The government needs to regulate, but it can’t create jobs without taking over the economy (like the Soviet Union did, or China, or nationalize industries like what’s going on in Venezuela today). The path to jobs is pursuing education, starting businesses, and taking risks. The Government cannot do that for us. The Government cannot make people go into business, the Government cannot make people provide jobs, the Government cannot make people work.

If you are demanding Government create jobs and wealth, then you are of the same mindset of the Soviet Bolsheviks of 1918. That is not the way our system works, nor should it. We live in a free country. You’re free to pursue any kind of education you want, go into any business you want, move anywhere in the country you want, have any kind of job your able to secure, and make any amount of money your ability will allow. We don’t want Government to make those decisions for us. Freedom brings with it responsibility and risk, but the alternative is much worse. So, I only wish the Obongos (bong inhaling Obama supporters) would stop the endless whining and get off their asses and do something about their own situation rather than waiting on the Government to do something. It reminds me of the Katrina survivors that didn’t have the good sense, after numerous warnings, to get out of the path of a major hurricane. Instead, they ended up on their rooftops waving signs to Government helicopters to rescue them. Man, I am sick of this type of irresponsibility. It is absolutely pathetic and uncharacteristic of America or Americans.

Neo-Langoliers

Obama's Change You Can Believe in.

What is that sound? Is it the Langoleirs (Steven King) ? Those little packmen creatures that consumed everything around them. The Democrats are the neo-Langoleirs, but this time they're eatting cash as fast as they can. Ross, that sucking sound, what is it, what IS IT !!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

What will you do with your freedom?

The siren of a compassionate Government, to take care of every need sings once again of utopia. How long, dear Jesus, will men and women fall for this vision, an illusion that forges the iron fist of tyranny. “Change we can believe in”, “the audacity of hope”, “yes we can”…its all been said before, repainted, repackaged, and resold, to our peril.

America must decide if fear will let the tyrant rule, or will they take charge of their personal lives and say no to this tyrant. We can do for ourselves. That is the fundamental difference between the rationing and lack Government management provides, and surpluses and prosperity that free men acting in their own interest provides. There is no more powerful force than free markets, finding efficiencies through pursuit of profits.

Free markets must be regulated, not to hamper their forces, but to pluck out the corrupt that produce products that do not measure up to the value they advertise. Where money and power exist, corrupt men and women exist. So it is true with Government, until the money is gone.

Before we enter into the era of big Government, let us learn again the lesson of the Soviet Union. Here, we had a country, a worker's nation, that tried to provide housing, education, healthcare, without the power of free markets. Using the currency of their Christian heritage and work ethic, it worked for a time. Then the great experiment in socialism started to crumble as the forces of corruption made some in that society more valuable than others. The highest value assigned by the Government were to those who promoted the socialist state, not the workers, engineers, scientists, doctors, farmers, and others who made value out of raw materials. The average Soviet began to see how fruitless it was to work hard, because no benefit of that labor ever returned to them or members of their family. They used to have a joke about the Soviet socialist State, “They pretend to pay us, and we pretend to work”.

There is the failure of socialism, and its built-in and certain. A man will do more for himself than he will do for the greater good of any State. Those who claim to concern themselves with the greater good of the State are the political commissars who take the best for themselves, while they use the whip of State power to beat their worker classes to death. Eventually, the worker will quit or die, as the socialist state has killed any motivation to work. All that’s left to motivate in such a State is fear. The pretty words, ‘each according to his ability, each according to his need” never addressed the needs of the human spirit.

Although Obama is a charismatic figure, let us not fall for this again. As age creeps into my bones, I can do little but call out the alarm that the Socialists are coming. They are riding hard in our direction, and once again American patriots must ride out to meet and stop them.

The Goose is Finally Cooked- The Second Saint Valentines Massacre

The Stimulus I suppose is done. Money will pour into allies of the Democrat party under the seedy direction of Rahm Emanuel. Democrats voted for this bill without reading it. This may be regarded as the second Saint Valentines Massacre.

Change is coming, but no one know what it is. This is scary stuff. It feels like the United States has been taken over by some banana republic government. The crazy socialist Senator from Vermont, Leahy, wants to begin tribunals to investigate the Bush administration for a list of liberal generated 'offenses' surrounding torture and surveillance. Reminds me of the so-called truth commissions conducted in South Africa and Zimbabwe. We are truely moving to third world status politically and financially. What is more troubling about this is a recent US Gallup Poll that indicates 60 percent of us want some sort of independent investigation, or even criminal charges filed against the Bush administration. Can this be true? With unemployment, war, and terrorism afflicting us, is it possible that a majority of Americans want to waste time and money to pursue a policy of political revenge? If so, we are in big trouble. I would have liked to have seen investigations of the FNC and Mark Rich pardons by the Clinton administration. However, our better angels urged us to move on, so we did. That's good advice for Democrats that want to embroil the country in endless investigations.

BO then moves to control the census. As Stalin said, he who votes doesn't decide anything, but he who counts the votes decides everything. The prospect of ACORN running the US census is absolutely frightening. Is this the change we can believe in? Those of us who didn't support Barack Obama hoped and prayed he would govern from the center. His actions of the first three weeks indicates that he is taking a hard left. Could it perhaps mean that he is trying to get all of the political graft done first (as Clinton did during his first term), then move to the center? This would give folks four years to forget all this in time for his second term. I don't think so.

I think Barack Obama is the most dishonest politician that ever entered office. How anyone could believe that he was surprised by the radicalism of his minister, Reverend Wright, or that he didn't know Bill Ayers was a former American radical and terrorist at the time Ayers hosted a "meet the candidate" event. Its just too much for me to get past. I believe BO will lie about anything, and nothing he eloquently states is worthy of belief. He lied about transparency, the stimulus bill rocketed through without any analysis of whats in it. His minions put it out at midnight, and voted on it before lunch the next day. Over one thousand pages, in PDF format, so those who tried to review it couldn't perform key word searches to get some idea what is in this package. Republican Senators Specter, Snowe, and Collins just gave the keys to the store to this radical administration... to spend 1,000 billion dollar bills. No pork; this thing is the whole pig.

The audacity of hope may mean the audacity of transforming the United States into a socialist state right in front of us while he channels Abraham Lincoln. BOs giant goose is finally done, and now our children's children will be trying to eat it for decades to come. Beam me up, Scotty.

Obongo Takes Ownership of Future Terrorist Attacks

Just one attack on U.S. soil, and the fantasy stops. The Russians, Chinese, North Koreans, Iranians, Syrians, Libyans, Cubans,Venezuela, Al Qaeda, Hamas, Hezbollah are all changing their playbooks to challenge the new CINC. BO has dismantled the Bush apparatus that has protected us for the last seven years, so he owns this.

Our enemies don't want to get along, they want to replace America as a world power. The test is coming, as the Biden 'Gaffe-O-Matic' said during the campaign(apparently his genius wife is afflicted similarly). The wingnut Left won't approve of any move by BO to protect America or her interests. U.S workers will have to compete with third world illegal immigrants for table scraps, then reality will set in.

When the right to secret balloting is suspended to force non-union laborers into these Tony Soprano run rackets, reality will set in.

When cap and trade measures are implemented, coupled with uncontrolled inflation due to Government spending, reality will set in.

When Joe Six-Pack has to pay 800 dollar per month electric bills for 'green' energy, and 250 bucks to fill up his pick-up truck, then I'm confident the fantasy of'hope' will be crushed by living with the burden of a government run economy.

When the elderly are cut loose from a rationed healthcare system (socializedmedicine), and all resources going only to the young, reality will set in. Yes, my elderly friends, 'Soylent Green' could become your future. The socialists don't want you to live, but to die to make room and reduce pollution.

BOs balloon is so high, it'll at least be interesting how long the 'hope'rhetoric keeps it aloft. How long can the Independents and Moderates drink their own bath water ? How long can RINO Repubs drink the Kool-Aid? Americans are impatient people.

Americans want the economy improved. They don't want Gays in the military,Gay marriage, unfettered abortion, illegal alien amnesty, terrorist attacks on American soil.

Petey's Upside Down

Petey is worried about the price of Alpo. Its gone up 3 dollars a case, which is 21 bucks in dog money. Ruff.
