Corporate Power Threatens the Republic

One of Milton Friedman's greatest fear, was that corporations and government would become one in the same. There is protectionism already baked in the cake, and its in the 20 volumes of the US tax code and State laws and licensing boards including thousands of regulations (State and Federal). They collectively prevent or reduce the availability of various services to keep the cost for those services at a high level by limiting competitors (or making it too expensive for competitors to enter the market).

Insurance companies promoted Obamacare, knowing full well Americans would be forced (by the Government) to pay high premiums for their products exclusively. Government approved plans made it infeasible for all competitors to enter the healthcare market. State boundaries made it impossible for consumers in various States to buy something less expensive in another State. At the same time, the "insured" would not be able to easily use these products due to high deductibles. And that's not all, the taxpayer will subsidize any loses they incur. Who wouldn't want a deal like that?

Corporations donate to elected officials to keep those barriers in place, or to legislate additional obstacles. The collusion of Google and Facebook with the Democrat Party is the biggest threat to the Republic in the history of the United States in my opinion. The ability to build search engines to wedge out sites for which they disagree, or collect information on individual subscribers for political purposes is frightening. Social media has become the modern way to assert mob rule through the power of the tweet.

What Happened to Good Paying Jobs?

The US, after WWII, became a manufacturing giant. Good jobs, good pay, good benefits. Why? The USA was untouched by the war, where all industrial competitors in Europe and the Pacific lay in ruins. The US, during the 40s, 50s, and 60s, was the only country which had standing factories that could meet the demands of the world.

As we moved passed the1960's into the 1970's and beyond, something happened. Europe and Japan rebuilt their industrial base destroyed by the war. Global competition began to eat away at the US manufacturing monopoly that once supported all of the "good" union wages and benefits. US car manufacturers, who previously could mass produce inferior products and sell them all.. could no longer do so. Japan started to capture huge market share of the car industry, as increased world manufacturing put high demand on oil that in turn increased gas prices. This of course created high demand for reliable cars that used less gas. The US car industry didn't see it coming, but the Japanese did and exploited it.

Creating good paying jobs is more than just getting an education. Its developing a workforce that can build, sell, and market things people want to buy. Government cannot anticipate this, and only a free market unleashed by low tax and regulatory environments creates the incentives for millions of minds to test, develop, and market millions of products and services. Some products will win big, others will lose. However, Government intervention in this process is what holds us back. Even colleges today are struggling with the problem of training students to do jobs that don't exist yet.....and don't get me started on degrees in ethnic studies and such.

I get so frustrated by the idea there is some magic formula to create good paying jobs. However, there are three things that will work, 1. free markets, 2. free markets, and 3. free markets....and please keep Government bureaucrats who know nothing of the real world out of the job creation business. If we don't, we'll all be starving while well paid and fed Government bureaucrats continue to make promises that they're only here to help us

The Trees

The Trees:

There is unrest in the forest,
There is trouble with the trees,
For the maples want more sunlight
And the oaks ignore their pleas.

The trouble with the maples,...
And they're quite convinced they're right They say the oaks are just too lofty And they grab up all the light.

But the oaks can't help their feelings
If they like the way they're made.
And they wonder why the maples
Can't be happy in their shade.

There is trouble in the forest,
And the creatures all have fled,
As the maples scream "Oppression!"
And the oaks just shake their heads

So the maples formed a union
And demanded equal rights.
"The oaks are just too greedy;
We will make them give us light."

Now there's no more oppression,
For they passed a noble law,
And the trees are all kept equal
By hatchet, axe, and saw.

Why Should We Hope Socialism Fails?

Why is it that we should not hope and pray socialism fails? There are many more Marxists in this country (both legal and illegal) hoping that free market capitalism fails. America's prosperity and power is generated by free markets and individual economic liberty. Unfortunately, that fact is no longer taught in public schools or universities.

The Marxists always fail because in order to redistribute wealth, they must have a constant stream of wealth to loot. Once that stash is gone, socialism collapses under its own weight (as that model cannot generate enough new wealth to go around). Socialism starts eating its own body by rationing the scarcity created by central economic management. That is why the USSR collapsed and communist China is moving towards capitalism.

Socialism always centralizes power, and why that economic model is advocated by statists who jealously guard that power regardless of what it does economically to the people they control. Once control of national production is achieved, the consolidation of that power allows them to effectively reward their cronies (and themselves) while punishing opponents. It all ends the same way, but every socialist dictatorship is typically run by megalomaniacs who truly believe they can make it work where others have failed

Taxing the Rich and the "Booming" Stock Market

There is a difference between the Wall Street investment class and mid to small businessmen. The stockmarket reflects growth of international companies, and earnings from foreign shores. The stockmarket can be high, while US unemployment and economic stagnation enduring. What many misunderstand, are the differences between the investment class managing earnings and losses inside portfoliosm,  and businessmen trying to survive under the assault of the EPA, Obamacare, new Federal Income Taxes, and dealing with noncompetive Union wages. In addition,  businessmen are paying rising State and Local taxes and headwinds of endless regulations imposed at that level. All this is a minefield of risk, and businessmen are finding negotiating it isn't worth it. So, no one is building businesses or expanding their workforce.       Even GM (Government Motors) is building vehicles in China for that market, so that means less growth in US plants and US exports.

Warren Buffet specializes in tax shelters, which is why he is all for taxing the so-called rich.    Obama's tax policy drives huge amounts of capital into Buffet's coffers. Other analysts said the stock market was also being lifted by investors moving funds out of bonds and into stocks, as a result of bond yields falling. The stock market also rose in 2007, and there was no reason for it. History repeating itself.

Stolen Integrity

Republicans and Democrats certainly have contributed to run away spending, but how dare they even insinuate Conservatives had anything to do with it. Those who say Republicans and Conservatives are synonymous are badly misinformed or openly dishonest. Big Government, trying to solve every social ill known to mankind is the problem. This penchant of Government to centralize power for the greater good has led many of these imperial regimes to epic collapse. Once Government socializes costs, the tyranny begins as freedom wanes. How anyone can believe that one mind one solution (aka Big Government) can replace the ingenuity of millions of minds and millions of solutions working simultaneously to resolve man's most urgent needs.... is beyond me. Centralized imperial government puts a stop to all of that, and always has. Conservatives have NEVER had any part of this.

Obama is a Socialist

Thomas Peterffy grew up in Socialist Hungary, immigrated to the US and became a successful broker. He knows first hand that Socialism robs individuals of their economic liberty and initiative to work and achieve.

Stuck on Stupid

Margaret Thatcher tried to save Britain in 1978. If you read her Conservative manifesto here, its an unnerving comparison of liberal and Labour party versus common sense conservative values. I say unnerving, as you can change the date from 1978 to 2010, and her criticisms of liberals are applicable to Barack Obama's vision for America. British and American liberals are definitely stuck on stupid, and America in particular has been since the days of Theodore Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson. Down with Progressives and progressivism, as its just socialism with a fake mustashe.

The Democrats- A not so new political strategy.

William Z. Foster. He was the national chairman of the American Communist Party from 1933 until 1957. He died in Moscow in 1961 and was buried with honors by the Soviet government.

Toward Soviet America - 1932 William Z Foster, page 326
“A Communist world will be a united organization world. The economic system will be one great organization.

Toward Soviet America - 1932 William Z Foster, page 326
“In such a society there will be no tariffs or the many other barriers erected by capitalism against a free world interchange of goods.” Here we have free trade, and not fair trade.

Toward Soviet America - 1932 William Z Foster, page 316
“Among the elementary measures the American Soviet government will adopt to further the cultural revolution are the following: the schools, colleges and universities will be coordinated and grouped under the National Department of Education and its state and local branches.” Again socialists have the majority of faculty within our institutions, colleges, university's, and public schools. See public school indoctrination comments found on this site. We of course now have a Federal Department of Education.

Toward Soviet America - 1932 William Z Foster, page 334
Quoting Stalin
“The principle of capitalist competition is defeat and death for some and victory for others. The principle of Socialist competition is, comradely assistance to those lagging behind the more advances, with the purpose to reach general advancement.” What more can I say about the take over of GM, Government Motors, the bailouts of banks, and the take over of the Healthcare industry, and the coming takeover of energy and manufacturing under Cap and Trade.

Toward Soviet America - 1932 William Z Foster, page 308
“The Russian woman is also free in her sex life. When married life becomes unwelcome for a couple they are not barbarously compelled to live together. Divorce is to be had for the asking by one or both parties.” Isn't this a reflection of our current post modern society today?

Toward Soviet America - 1932 William Z Foster, page 290
“Naturally the American Socialist industry will be operated upon the basis of a planned economy.” The Government, under aforementioned stimulus plans, now seek to control not only US manufacturing (production), but the means of production and who gets access to capital. Taxes will redistribute money from those who earn it to those who the Government prefers based on political favor and orientation.

Toward Soviet America - 1932 William Z Foster, page 321
“Capitalism blames crime upon the individual, instead of upon the bad social conditions with produced it.” This certainly reflects the lack of personal responsibility for ones own economic condition in our current post modern society. Work is no longer a requirement of economic reward in our evolving economy. A retail worker inside an air conditioned perfume counter will have the equivalent pay as a steel worker operating 500 feet off the ground, a road worker toiling in 100 degree heat, or oil rig workers facing dangerous working conditions. Equivalent pay for less strenuous and dangerous work will eventually insure no one will want to do it.

Toward Soviet America - 1932 William Z Foster, page 317
“The whole basis and organization of capitalist science will be revolutionized. Science will become . . . truly scientific. God will be banished from the laboratories as will as from the schools.” Already done.

Toward Soviet America - 1932 William Z Foster, page 303
“Attempts to maintain the capitalist white chauvinism and ostracism of the Negroes will be punished as a serious crime.” Although this statement may be dated, its meaning is clear to me. Hate crime law will eventually chill, then outlaw speech under the guise of hate. See my article on hate crime and its deleterious effect on free speech of all kinds. White guilt has driven this, see my article below, or here

Creating Jobs

It shouldn't be surprising that Barack Hussein Obama holds another job summit to create the illusion of progress. Who does he invite, but the likes of the SEIU. These union assclowns never created one single job; yet can figure out how to get three or four deadheads hired to do one single job (obviously that someone else creates). Why ask these parasites how to make things better, as these idiots are nothing but life sucking parasites on the ass of economic growth. I hope all the Bush hating Independents that helped elect this Socialist moron to the Presidency gets a good dose of hope and change.

It would be nice if the socialist Democrats finally understoood the Health Care and Cap and Trade Bills looming are killing jobs. No one wants to hire because potential employers don't know what additional costs are coming with passage of either one of these huge tax bills. If we cannot get these clowns out of office soon, we'll all be standing in soup lines.

Obama in the Garden of Eden

Will Obama ever stop campaigning? Apparently, he doesn't know difference between campaigning and governing. Many independents hired him to fix the economy, not what he is apparently doing. Obama has managed to triple the deficit while incredibly continuing to blame Bush for the disastrous affects of his own policies (which are currently launching USA red ink into orbit). He passed a massive spending bill that no one in Congress had time to read. If they had read it, they would know all the spending in that bill only grows Government and not jobs. That’s the fatal flaw of Socialism, as it consumes money (wealth) and produces nothing in return. Gradually, due to high taxes, the wealth producers become unmotivated to produce, and the entire system goes bankrupt. One only has to look at California or Michigan to understand what high taxes and big government does to an economy. Government spending for government only transfers the same poor dollar from one pocket to another without adding one cent of value. We’ll pass the same poor old worn out dollar around and around and around and around until it gradually disintegrates. It cannot be used to build or grow another job. See 'Porkulus', why it won't work in the Must See segment on this site.

Big government, once started, is almost impossible to stop. The reason is simple. Big Government hires most of the voters. Once you hire voters, it’s impossible to reduce growth in Government because the hired ‘voters’ will not risk loosing raises or jobs. Therefore, hired voters will only support politicians that protect their Government jobs. For example, where I live its almost impossible to stop school district spending. The reason is the school system is the largest employer in the county. Every time a bond measure is voted on to build new, and sometimes unneeded facilities, those hired voters and their families turn out in droves to pass the measure. The result, our taxes go up, and up, and up. My only defense is to move out of the county. If enough of us do so, the school budget collapses.

The Soviets were absolutely terrified to move to a capitalistic system, as they had a guaranteed job, a guaranteed health care system, and a guaranteed pension. It really didn’t matter how poor the job was, how sorry the health care was, or even how rotten the pension. That’s why Socialist systems have to collapse under their own weight, as people will cling to a government provided peanut butter sandwich instead of working for a steak. Gradually, even the high and mighty Government runs out of peanut butter. I’ve seen that phenomenon time and time again. Apparently, some people fear both failure and success. Americans have always been unique in that respect, in that we are skeptical of government, and want minimal Government interference. Anyone who wants Government to run their life is not a true American. I fear that as our borders are flooded by immigrants who come here to reap economic reward rather than relief from Government oppression, the numbers of Socialists will eventually overpower freedom seeking Americans.

Government dependence, once it takes root, is a terrible thing. Even today, we see the destruction of LBJ’s Great Society affect on the black community. A system that herded them into ghettos, rewarded them for not working, rewarded them for having children out of wedlock, and permanent creating an entitlement mindset and Government dependence. Although they have been the objects of discrimination, that alone cannot explain or excuse the entire breakdown of the black family and its moral culture.
We cannot wait around for the Government to do something for us, but must take action ourselves. Only by doing so will provide greater power and prosperity. Government dependence is the hemlock Obama is wants us all to drink. The President is like the serpent in the Garden of Eden, tempting us to eat of this socialist fruit. In the name of all that’s Holy, do not take a bite, lest capitalism and free enterprise die forever in America.

Classwork in Socialism

Here's a little tale to ponder... An economics professor at a local college made a statement that he had never failed a single student before, but had once failed an entire class.

That class had insisted that Obama's socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer. The professor then said, "OK, we will have an experiment in this class on Obama's plan". All grades would be averaged and everyone would receive the same grade so no one would fail and no one would receive an A.

After the first test, the grades were averaged and everyone got a B. The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied little were happy. As the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride too so they studied little. The second test average was a D! No one was happy.

When the 3rd test rolled around, the average was an F. The scores never increased as bickering, blame and name-calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for the benefit of anyone else. All failed, to their great surprise, and the professor told them that socialism would also ultimately fail because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great but when government takes all the reward away, no one will try or want to succeed. Could not be any simpler than that.

Conservatism, Isn't it Enough?

I keep hearing from liberals that Americans are turning away from Conservatism. I'm not so sure.

The reason is that I don't think most people under 40 know what Conservatism is anymore. Its been so bastardized by the Rockefeller Republicanism of Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford, George H. Bush, Bob Dole, George W. Bush...and last but not least John McCain. Who can wonder, in the past parade of Republican Presidents, we've only been blessed with one Conservative in the White House, Ronald Reagan.

Conservatism was and is the American dream. That everyone owns their own liberty, owns the fruits of their labor, and can build their own life with little or no interference from the Government. Conservatism believes the reason for man's existence is for the good of himself, his family, and his God. Under Conservatism, the moral choice of charity belongs to the Individual.

Compare this to Liberalism, that everyone has a obligation to provide for the greater good, and for that reason Government can own the largess of all production...redistribution for all... regardless of individual contribution. Liberalism believes the reason for man's existence is for the good of society at large. Under Liberalism, the moral choice of charity (renamed social justice by Libs) belongs to Government.

It is very clear to me that once people understand that Conservatism bids them to keep what they earn, who could argue with that other than a blatant Communist? Why wouldn't most hard working people want to keep more of their income to buy things for their family.... rather than hand it over to bureaucrats to spend on social justice programs? If people really understood this, would Liberalism, or just call it what it is...Socialism, stand a chance in America? Isn't liberty, economic liberty, always better than Socialism?

As for me, I choose liberty. I choose. I give freely to those in need, but those who take without asking....they should know "Don't Tread on Me" is tattooed to my heart.

What will you do with your freedom?

The siren of a compassionate Government, to take care of every need sings once again of utopia. How long, dear Jesus, will men and women fall for this vision, an illusion that forges the iron fist of tyranny. “Change we can believe in”, “the audacity of hope”, “yes we can”…its all been said before, repainted, repackaged, and resold, to our peril.

America must decide if fear will let the tyrant rule, or will they take charge of their personal lives and say no to this tyrant. We can do for ourselves. That is the fundamental difference between the rationing and lack Government management provides, and surpluses and prosperity that free men acting in their own interest provides. There is no more powerful force than free markets, finding efficiencies through pursuit of profits.

Free markets must be regulated, not to hamper their forces, but to pluck out the corrupt that produce products that do not measure up to the value they advertise. Where money and power exist, corrupt men and women exist. So it is true with Government, until the money is gone.

Before we enter into the era of big Government, let us learn again the lesson of the Soviet Union. Here, we had a country, a worker's nation, that tried to provide housing, education, healthcare, without the power of free markets. Using the currency of their Christian heritage and work ethic, it worked for a time. Then the great experiment in socialism started to crumble as the forces of corruption made some in that society more valuable than others. The highest value assigned by the Government were to those who promoted the socialist state, not the workers, engineers, scientists, doctors, farmers, and others who made value out of raw materials. The average Soviet began to see how fruitless it was to work hard, because no benefit of that labor ever returned to them or members of their family. They used to have a joke about the Soviet socialist State, “They pretend to pay us, and we pretend to work”.

There is the failure of socialism, and its built-in and certain. A man will do more for himself than he will do for the greater good of any State. Those who claim to concern themselves with the greater good of the State are the political commissars who take the best for themselves, while they use the whip of State power to beat their worker classes to death. Eventually, the worker will quit or die, as the socialist state has killed any motivation to work. All that’s left to motivate in such a State is fear. The pretty words, ‘each according to his ability, each according to his need” never addressed the needs of the human spirit.

Although Obama is a charismatic figure, let us not fall for this again. As age creeps into my bones, I can do little but call out the alarm that the Socialists are coming. They are riding hard in our direction, and once again American patriots must ride out to meet and stop them.

Pelosi's Expensive Mouse

The 30,000,000 dollars slated for the preservation of the salt water mouse, just how many of these critters are out there (how much is each mouse worth)? Lets say, since its endangered, that there are 10,000 of these creatures stirring around in the coastal grasses of San Fransicko. That's roughly 3 thousand dollars per mouse. That mouse costs more than every dog I've ever owned my entire life, more than my big screen TV set cost, and an amount totaling way over my beer budget for the next five years. One f'ing mouse.

Wouldn't be cheaper just to kill the cats? I'm just sayin, save a mouse, kill a cat. Sorry, I'm not a cat person.

This stuff is so ridiculous, its beyond debate. The stimulus bill has to be an admission by Congress and BO that they haven't an f'ing clue what their doing. We have got to restore some Congressional opposition in 2010, to pull some of this mindless spending back or we're screwed as a country.

You couple this with every third world tin horn beating their chests that the US needs to start seeing things their way...your honor, I rest my case.
God gave the human species a brain to reason, and many in November voted with the wrong organ. The heart is emotional, but the brain uses reason. Decisions can't be made based on the way we feel, but based on reason. Don't ever vote with your heart, use your brain. The Obongos (bong inhaling Obama supporters) need to sober up and start thinking, instead of letting emotional "Bush lied thousands died" rhetoric short circuit their brains. Obama has to go.
Hey Hey
Ho Ho
Barack Obama's got to go.
Hey Hey
Ho Ho,
Socialism just say no
